Hi!!!

Hi guys, I'm sorry I have ignored the blog lately.  There was just a lot going on.  But no excuses, I'm going to be better from now on.  I have to say that within the time I was gone, I attended an event at the Seattle Art Museum, where I met Seth Aaron, the last Project Runway winner:) He seemed like a very cool guy.  I listened to him give a speech about his favorite work at the Seattle Art Museum, it was pretty fun.  Enough about me, I will be talking about what is in this season in my next post.

Who do you think is going to win Project Runway?

The final episode is coming up soon.  I'm very excited.  I'm a bit disappointed that Maya left..I really liked her style.  She was in the top three so many times, never got the first place.  She must have felt too much under pressure that she decided to leave.  My favorite designer is Seth Aaron, I really hope that he wins.  Not only he has a very edgy style but he also does impeccable work.  I think Emilio has a good shot, he's a very good designer and he knows how to dress a woman no doubt but he's not my style so much..Jay is alo very talented, but for some reason doesn't stand out as much as he should.  He's been one of my favorites from the beginning, but lately he hasn't impressed me too much.  I think Anthony has a great job with couple of designs, but not as creative as others.  Mila has a good chance maybe but I find her designs most of the time a bit repetitive and not as creative like the judges.  Let me hear what you guys think...

I'm baccck...

Sorry guys I haven't been able to keep up with my blog in the past few weeks.  I traveled quite a bit lately, I made one trip to see my sister and friends, and I made another trip to relax - we went to Cabo.  In Cabo, the beaches were great, but the town itself (including nightlife) was a bit disappointing.  I was hoping for South Beach version of Mexico.  The nature was great, however the restaurants/bars/shops were a bit disappointing.  I can't say I've seen too many trendy people over there..unlike South Beach.

Any of you guys are still watching Project Runway?  I watched the last episode right after I got back.  It's getting very exciting.  It can be anyone's game.  But consistently the judges liked Mila, Seth Aaron, and Emilio a lot.  If the winner is going to be one of these guys, I'm going to vote for Seth Aaron, since he has a very unique and edgy style. I like Maya a lot, I think she and I have very similar tastes.  Jay and Anthony are also strong contenders, however I feel like Jay tends to take it too easy sometimes.  Let me hear what you guys think..

A Designer Profile: Twenty8twelve

Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah launched this line in September 2007 with the financial backing by Pepe Jeans.  The brand gets its name from Sienna's birthdate.  Twenty8twelve is a collection described by the duo as being androgynous with a London vige.  While Savannah attended design school in London and worked alongside Alexander McQueen and Matthew Williamson, Sienna plays the part of the muse who adds her own touch of punk-rock to the collection.  The sisters showed their eclectic bohemian collection in a presentation form at the London Fashion week this week.

This one shoulder mini dress by twenty8twelve can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue for $298.9 (on sale from $499).

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in NY..

I wish I was in NY this week.  The semi-annual Fashion Week in NYC started this Thursday, it will go through the 18th.

Interesting facts about the Fashion Week in NY:
It is one of four major fashion events in NYC.  First one was held in 1943. When it first started, it was called Press Week instead of Fashion Week.
The fashion industry insiders were not able to travel to Paris to see the big fashion shows during the World War II.  Fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert organized this first event and named it "Press Week" to showcase American designers to the industry insiders.  This helped the American designers to gain more popularity and publicity.
Admission is by invitation only.  The event is organized by IMG.  IMG is the a sports, entertainment and media company.
If you want to take a peek at their exciting schedule, take a look at http://www.mbfashionweek.com/newyork/fall2010/schedule/index.html
I would have loved to see the Zac Pozen show on the 15th which coincides with my birthday;)

You can find many of these designer's clothing sold at Saks Fifth Avenue online.  It is one of the few big retail stores that carry a variety of designer names.  For example this cute dress in the pic by Ella Moss is on sale for $96.99.  It is a simple dress but the colors are so eye-catching.

I picked out couple of really great jeans for you...

The first one is a pair of skinny jeans (with a distressed look) by Current/Elliott. They are $238 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

The secod one is a pair of flare jeans by AG Adriana Goldschmied.  They can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue for $218. To my surprise, flare jeans are in style again.

Shopping Spree..

I went on a shopping spree yesterday...I haven't shopped for a long time. I felt like I needed to trendy up my wardrobe a little bit. my look.   I checked out few places: Anthropology, BCBG, Club Monaco, and Macy's. I ended up getting two long tops (almost like dresses) that I'm going to pair with some leggings, one hobo bag, and a plaid flirty dress with ruffled shoulders(dress pictured above) for all under $200 from Macy's. And on top of it, they are all BCBG. I got the purple top with a twisted back I had posted on my blog few weeks ago. I think it was my lucky day:)
I would recommend you guys to check it out.

A Designer Profile: Matthew Williamson

Previous week's Project Runway hosted Matthew Williamson. He was one of the guest judges. I was pretty sure I had heard his name before. I decided to do some research on him. Here's what I have found.

Matthew Willamson launched his own line in 1997. He got recognized as the designer of the year by Elle magazine in 2004.

Plum Sykes, a famous fashion writer, said this about his designs:

“Take a London girl and send her on a trip—through Bali, Goa, and Ibiza—and you have Matthew Williamson's glamorous and seductive vision of a well-dressed gypsy.”

Matthew Williamson worked for an Indian label Mansoon in the past which has really made an impact on his designs. Some of his clients are Sienna Miller, Bjork, Keira Knightley, and Helene Christensen. He launched his online store in May 2009. http://www.matthewwilliamson.com/ The opening screen is great.

You can find his designs at Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Zoe, and Kirna Zabete. Last year, he collabarated with H&M and created a summer line for them.

You can also find it at Yoox.com for a better value.
