A Brand Profile: LaRok

LaROK is a contemporary collection, based on the concept of highly styled, fashion-oriented items. LaROK was launched in the fall of 2004 by Koral Industries, which also launched the 7 for all mankind brand.

LaROK is designed collaboratively, with young designers Jenna Wilson and Cary Vaughan spearheading the creative directions. The end result is a perfect balance of streetwise femininity; with a great deal of attention paid to fit the function. As Jenna notes; “we try and enhance the experience of wearing the garment, we love to add functional details so a girl can style the item herself, and wear it several different ways” Cary adds, “we like to imagine where the girl is going and what details she might appreciate; for example in our outerwear we make sure the pockets are big enough for an I-pod…we have pants with tabs that adjust the length, so a girl can rock them long with heels or short with sneakers.”

ZARA is going to be sold online through the company website soon..

I can't wait. Zara is one of my favorite stores. I used to live in DC, it was no problem. But now that I live in Seattle, I miss shopping at Zara. Early this year the manager in DC told me they are planning to open a store in Seattle soon early this year. However, I've been looking and I haven't heard anything about this recently. But when I was looking around, I came across some good information which is Zara is going online soon. They are planning to launch their online site next year for Zara's Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. I'm really looking forward to it:)

Irina, the New Winner of Project Runway!

I like all the collections. However, the jury was right, Irina's collection was very well put together and very well thought out. Cardigans are in style this year. Especially long and large ones. We saw some nice ones on the Project Runway final episode yesterday designed by Irina and Althea.

Cardigans are more playful this year. We see different styles this year. Best way to pair a nice cardigan is leggings and a simple top.

I picked out some great ones online.

Who do you think is going to win the Project Runway?

The season finale is going to Air next Thursday. The three remaining are Irina, Athea, and Carol Hannah. After watching the last episode, Finale Part 1, I am leaning towards Carol Hannah. Although Irina is a big competition too. I like Carol Hannah, because her dresses look very chic, well put together, and clean cut. Irina has a luxury taste, I think she is very good at making something look very expensive. Althea is also good, she has good sense of style, I think style wise I feel closest to her, but she can be inconsistent.

A Brand Profile: Brooklyn Bodkin

I wanted to introduce this brand this time around, because I admire the fact that this clothing line is totally organic. Bodkin originated as a collaboration between designers Eviana Hartman and Samantha Pleet. Eviana, the head creator and the head designer, used to write about fashion for the Washington Post. The pair began by conducting a weekend experiment in reworking old leather jackets into bags. Their successful designs led them to expand into sustainable ready-to-wear and the creation of the Bodkin Brooklyn brand. The Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Awards selected label Bodkin Brooklyn to receive the Sustainable Design award this year. Each piece is manufactured in the U.S. and mindfully sourced with such materials as organic cotton, organic wool, artisanal dyes, recycled polyester, closed-loop cellulosic fibers, and deadstock fabric. So Who Is Your Favorite Designer at Project Runway?

So Project Runway 6th season is almost over. We're getting towards the end. Who are your favorite desingers? I don't have a big favorite like other seasons. I think there are some people with definitely good potential. But there is noone that stands out with their own design or style. Irina is definitely good, she has good taste, and she's a good designer. But she doesn't woww me..Nicholas is good. He has good potential. But i feel like he also doesn't have the woww factor. Althea is also very good, her designs are nice and elegant, but they are not too interesting as the others..I think none of these designers have the wow factor. Maybe it's because I haven't seen enough of their designs, or they are not pushing their limits so hard. There are couple of designers that I was surprised to see getting eliminated. One is R'amon. I'm really surprised, he got eliminated before so many others. He was a really good designer with good taste. I'm surprised that Epperson got eliminated. I agree his last dress was not so fashion forward, but I think he really proved himself with the Western-themed dress.

New Trend Alert - Pearls Pearls Pearls

Time to take your pearls out...

Pearl is very in this Fall. Especially pearl necklaces. Best to wear over a simple shirt and make it dressier.

It's $225. It is a mix of blackwater freshwater pearls, turquoise, and garnet.
It is really beatiful.

Aslo check out this classic multi-color pearl necklace by Majorica at Saks Fifth Avenue. It is sold for $285. Majorica is a Spanish brand, the name comes from the island Majorca. Majorca is known to have the best pearls in the world. I have been there. It is a great place to visit. Very Meditterranean.

Also this nice multi-chain pearl necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane sold at Macy's for $175. It is gorgeous. I normally don't over accessorize that much. But as I see these great designs, a part of me wants to go all over the board:)
