I wish I was in NY this week. The semi-annual Fashion Week in NYC started this Thursday, it will go through the 18th.
Interesting facts about the Fashion Week in NY:
It is one of four major fashion events in NYC. First one was held in 1943. When it first started, it was called Press Week instead of Fashion Week.
The fashion industry insiders were not able to travel to Paris to see the big fashion shows during the World War II. Fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert organized this first event and named it "Press Week" to showcase American designers to the industry insiders. This helped the American designers to gain more popularity and publicity.
Admission is by invitation only. The event is organized by IMG. IMG is the a sports, entertainment and media company.

I would have loved to see the Zac Pozen show on the 15th which coincides with my birthday;)
You can find many of these designer's clothing sold at Saks Fifth Avenue online. It is one of the few big retail stores that carry a variety of designer names. For example this cute dress in the pic by Ella Moss is on sale for $96.99. It is a simple dress but the colors are so eye-catching.
